I’m interested in character, plot, and place—the elements of story—probably because I was educated to write fiction (which I don’t do anymore). Now I make visual things. My recent work is often about how personal narratives are shaped largely by the iconography of consumerism and pop-culture. I paint
and make collages, working in Oakland, CA. In a freak accident, I lost vision in one eye at the tender age of 5. Having lived and created in a world void of perceivable depth, my art tends to distort and exaggerate perspective.
